Plain-English rules

Terms of use

Spellito is free, no-account, and ad-free. These terms keep the rules clear for families without pretending this is a heavyweight SaaS contract.

Last updated: 18 May 2026

👋 The rules, short version

We made Spellito to help you with your spelling. Here’s how it works:

  • It’s free. You don’t need an account. You don’t pay anything.
  • Be kind to it. Use Spellito to practise spelling. Don’t try to break it or trick it on purpose.
  • Ask a grown-up if anything looks wrong or if a word is being silly.
  • We’re trying our best but we’re a small team. Sometimes Spellito might be slow or have a wobble. Sorry in advance!

For parents and carers — the detail

These terms apply when you or a child you supervise uses Spellito. They’re short on purpose — Spellito is a free no-account no-ads service, so most of the usual SaaS terms don’t apply.

Who we are

Spellito is operated by Wacky Works Digital, a UK-based digital studio. Contact: hello@spellito.com (general) or privacy@spellito.com (data/privacy).

Who Spellito is for

Spellito is designed for UK primary-school children in Reception to Year 6 (ages 4–11), used under the supervision of a parent or carer. It’s a Progressive Web App — you run it in your browser; there’s no native app and no sign-up.

What it costs

Spellito is free for everyone, everywhere. There’s no paid tier in v1. If we ever introduce optional paid features (we may, after September 2026), the free service will remain free and we’ll never paywall the core spelling practice.

Acceptable use

By using Spellito, you agree to:

  • Use the service for its intended purpose — spelling practice for primary-aged children.
  • Supervise the child you’re using it with. Spellito is not a substitute for a parent or teacher.
  • Not attempt to disrupt the service, abuse the underlying APIs (Gemini, Supabase, Vercel), or use Spellito as a general-purpose AI text or audio generator by submitting non-spelling content as “word lists”.
  • Not include personal information (children’s names, addresses, identifiers) when submitting weekly word lists. The Privacy Notice explains why.
  • Not use Spellito for anything illegal, harmful, or age-inappropriate.

Content and ownership

Spellito’s curriculum (the seeded word lists, the sentence templates, the teacher-voice MP3s pre-generated for curriculum words, the user interface, the codebase) is owned by Wacky Works Digital and licensed for personal, non-commercial use as part of the service.

When a parent submits a weekly word list, the words and any edited sentences belong to that parent. By submitting them you grant Wacky Works Digital a non-exclusive licence to process them through our service providers (notably Google, for sentence generation and voice synthesis) for the sole purpose of producing your practice clips. We don’t resell, republish, or use submitted lists for any other purpose.

Service availability

Spellito is a free service operated on a best-effort basis. We don’t commit to any uptime SLA. The service depends on third-party providers (Vercel for hosting, Supabase for database and audio storage, Google for sentence and voice generation), and outages or quota limits at any of them may affect Spellito. We aim to be available; we make no promises.

Changes to the service

We may add, change, or retire features over time. We try not to remove anything that’s being actively used by families. If a change materially affects how you use Spellito we’ll surface it on the home page.

No warranty

Spellito is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. While we’ve worked hard to align the practice content with the real DfE KS1/KS2 SATs spelling style and mark schemes, we don’t guarantee that using Spellito will produce any particular educational outcome, nor that the generated sentences will always be perfectly age-pitched. Spellito is a supplement to, not a replacement for, the teaching the child receives at school.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wacky Works Digital is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Spellito. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under English law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising in connection with them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we’ll update the “last updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes we’ll surface a notice on the home page until you’ve seen it.
